I spent a weekend using the Alaska Railroad Glacier Discovery train to paddle the Portage and Placer Rivers south of Anchorage.

Near the end of a 450 mile cycling trip across the Alaskan highways, I descended 2600ft from Thompson Pass to sea level. It was horrifying and amazing.
